The reel- and real-life couples’ romance has unfolded both on- and off-screen.
The new decade is also a new start for James Reid and Nadine Lustre – without each other.
On January 20, the couple confirmed that “after quiet and mature conversations,” they’ve decided to split up and “focus on ourselves.” On January 1, showbiz publication Pep.ph, citing an unnamed source, said the two called it quits because of “irreconcilable differences.”
The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation and their fans insisting that the rumors weren’t true, debunking reports by unearthing photos of the two spendings the holidays together.
And while the two have, thus far, closed this chapter of their life, they’re still undeniably one of the most beloved celebrity couples in the country.
Nadine shock breakup with James Reid hogged showbiz headlines this past week.
So it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that she moves by a semifinals performance on “Your Moment,” from a pair of former lovers who had also chosen to part ways.
In last Saturday’s episode, Lustre was seen holding back her tears as she listened to Keren Lazaro and Mark Takeuchi’s cover of Labrinth’s “Jealous.”
And for her comment as one of the judges, Nadine said, “May magic talaga kayong dalawa.”
“Iniiyakan ko rin kasi iyang song na iyan dati, iyong meaning niya talaga ay sobrang sakit.”
Lustre did clarify that she didn’t nearly choke up because of a person, explaining that she’s just really the “emotional” type.
It’s just last week when Nadine and James confirm that they parted their ways in a joint statement.
The pair of Lazaro and Takeuchi was one of the semifinalists who took the stage on Saturday. They represented the singing category, alongside groups Verse Band and Glitters.
