Willie Revillame has personally distributed P5 million donation to the jeepney drivers.
As promised, Willie Revillame donates cash for the jeepney drivers whose lives are affected because of the pandemic.
He worked with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for the distribution of the donation.
In a report by GMA News Online, Willie personally went to the office and helped in the distribution of financial assistance and sacks of rice.
The leaders of different transport groups went to the office to receive the donations. The financial aid per group was ranging from P200,000 to P1.5 million.
Some jeepney drivers who are not members of any transport also lined up at the LTFRB office to get some donations.
As mentioned in the Facebook post of LTFRB, the TV host vowed to donate another P5 million next month.
Pasang Masda leader Ka Obet Martin received PHP1,449,500.
The ALTODAP group lead by Boy Vargas received PHP1,132,500.
Another group of jeepney drivers received PHP342,000, jeepney driver with Tandang Sora-Visayas Avenue route also received PHP298,500.
Some jeepney drivers also came from Navotas City, Manila, and other places, who were not part of any association lined up and also asked for help at the LTFRB office.
Aside from the money Willie distributed, he also donates two thousand sacks of rice that jeepney drivers divided.
He also gave all of the jeepney drivers who present on that day a jacket.
According to LTFRB, 3,211 jeepney drivers receive cash aid from Willie’s donation.
Willie earlier announced that he would provide P5-million assistance for jeepney drivers who are already begging amid the C0’VID-19 pandemic, as well as P100,000 to each family of OFWs who passed away in the Beirut explosion, Lebanon.
All of the money he spends is from his own savings.
